Types of Hearing Aids

Hearing aids amplify sounds and improve speech understanding in various situations. There are variety of types of hearing aids you can choose from:

Behind The Ear Open Fit (OBTE) - This is the most popular hearing aid as its very small and discreet. It sits behind the ear and is connected to a slim tube that fits in the ear with either a small dome or custom mold.  It is commonly used for mild to sever hearing loss.
Behind The Ear (BTE) - This is a traditional behind the ear hearing aid. It hooks over the top of your ear and sits behind the ear. The BTE hearing aid picks up sound, amplifies it and carries the amplified sound to the ear mold that fits inside your ear canal. It is used for all types of hearing losses and for people of all ages.
In The Ear (ITE)- This is a hearing aid that is custom fit for each individual patient. In terms of in the ear hearing aids it is the most visible.  It’s used for individuals with mild to sever hearing loss.
In The Canal (ITC) - This is a custom hearing aid that covers a smaller area of the ear, but not as deeply as the completely-in-the-canal aid. Used for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss in adults.
Completely In Canal (CIC) -This custom hearing aid is the smallest and least visible of all hearing aids. They are deeper in the ear canal which makes them vertically invisible hearing aids. Able to remove from the ear by a retrieval line. They are used for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss.
